Keeping Up With Danny: School Events

Today, at school, we did this AMAZING, and horrible thing at the same time. But first, let me tell you a story.

A few years ago, someone in canada was bullied. For what? For wearing pink. Apparently it is socially unacceptable to wear pink in public when you are a guy. We all have these stereotypes, but this is ridiculous. So one day, his good and real friends wore pink to protest this. This is how the movement began.

My school was one of the first, if not the first to start this event called Pink Tsunami. We all decorated our rooms with pink and only pink with inspiring messages to not only stand up for this kid who wore pink, but to stand up against bullying. This is incredible, especially for a public school. But unfortunately, it seemed more like a contest for best room than standing up against bullying. What do you think? Did you do this at your school?

Keeping Up With Danny: What is Comedy?

Nowadays, we see comedy as mocking people, and that just shows how much this world has changed. We perceive insults as jokes. This is not right. We just do not consider feelings nowadays, and showing feelings, especially for men, is a sign of femininity and weakness. We see this especially in school, where a lot of students are very ignorant of each other. We need to rethink how we act, no only as a person, but as a community and as society.

Keeping Up With Danny: Be Yourself?!?!?!?!

Nowadays, it’s common for people to say “be yourself” and “be unique”. But I have one question. How? I know this might seem like an easy question to answer, but hear me out. How do you be yourself without being ridiculed. People say “oh you just want attention”. When you blend in, people say you are boring. So can we really be ourselves nowadays without being hurt? It’s so tempting to blend in or stand out, but there are so many consequences to that.

Keeping Up With Danny: Watch Your Mouth!

This is related to my last post. If you have not seen it, here’s the link: https://iamdannynguyen.wordpress.com/2015/02/07/keeping-up-with-danny-suicide/ Why don’t people think before they speak? We have made it so acceptable to say “go kill yourself” and other things like “you’re worthless” or “piece of sh*t”, and this makes me so sick. Why don’t people think before they speak? This world would be such a better place if they did. It’s absolutely unacceptable. People actually commit suicide because of the power of words. People need to learn that your words have lots of power and that everything you do has a consequence. I can not stress this enough, and if they do not take it seriously, many more will kill themselves.

Keeping Up With Danny: Suicide

So yesterday, I was in a groupchat with several friends, and suddenly, one of my friends said “kill yourself”. This hit me hard personally because I tried to commit suicide because of people saying “go kill yourself”.

Why do we make “go kill yourself” and “i wanna kill myself” so acceptable to say? We make it so casual to say now. I’m with freedom of speech, but there is a line between freedom of speech and verbal abuse. What you say matters. Always think before you speak and know that there are consequences with every single action, from taking a step out the door to saying “kill yourself”. People kill themselves over three simple words. Watch your mouth.

Keeping Up With Danny: Speaking out on Rumors

There are so many people in this world, some sincere and some who aren’t. That’s just how life works, and it’s up to you to deal with it or let it get in your way, and this is my way of dealing with it. I hate writing, so I thought I would do it here.

Rumor #1: I’m worthless. Nobody is worthless, just priceless. How can you put a price on a life? Any life?

Rumor #2: I’m a “faggot” 1. This is disrespectful to gay people. 2. Just because I do not listen to your music and I use twitter, Instagram, etc makes me one?

Rumor #3 I’m stupid. Just because I do not understand some things does not mean I am stupid. This is extremely rude and disrespectful. Just because you are in an honors class and I am not does not mean you are smarter. There are countless things you do not learn in a textbook.

These are some rumors made up about me and I hate that people actually believe them. I am not the only one to have rumors spread about them. Some people have committed suicide because of these silly rumors. But remember, those rumors will not make up your entire life. There are countless happy experiences waiting for you. No one should result to suicide because of a rumor. I pray for those gullible people.

Message to people who believe any rumors: Why don’t you figure things out for yourself instead of going to others for information?

Keeping Up With Danny: You can do it!!

Yesterday, in english class, my teacher told us that her metal band, “Lotus Thief” recently got in a magazine! Congratulations by the way! But what she said really hit me.

Her story goes back to middle-high school. She was bullied. She got called many names, from worthless, to people saying she couldn’t do anything. But look at her now. She is in a band, she got in a magazine, and she is going on tour sometime during the summer! What others said about her was obviously wrong. She accomplished a lot, more than most people would. I could relate to this a lot. Who knows, I was going to do youtube, and I will soon! But the message here that hit me hard was that she was told she could not do anything. She was told she was worthless. But look at her now. She is a success. And someday, you will be too!

Keeping Up With Danny: Is bullying and hate ok?

I know what you’re thinking. Duh. Of course it’s not. So why do people do it? I made a youtube video about 2 months ago and got quite a lot of hate for it, on twitter and on youtube. (It was about my experience with bullying) I’m not alone. Many people have things they want to accomplish, and I want to do Youtube, but how can I with all the hate? People keep bullying and those comments just get to you. Why do people make bullying seem like a completely acceptable thing to do? If someone says no to bullying and bullies, what’s the point? I understand some people aren’t wise enough to know, but then again if they aren’t, why use social media in the first place? Cyber bullying, and just bullying in general, can have a huge impact on a person’s life. They are committing suicide over this. Simply saying “ignore it” is easier said than done when it is shoved up your face every day. I know “think before you speak” is so cliché, but people need to take that seriously.

Keeping Up With Danny: Feeling Down? Listen to this!
